You're not buying a ticket!
 
Worlcons sell memberships to a convention, not tickets to an event. There is a
subtle (but to my mind, important) distiction. If it weren't for the fact that
we'd've run afoul of city 'ticket' taxes and Moscone Center regulations on
'ticket selling', I would have proposed that ConFrancisco (the 1993 Worldcon)
sell 'tickets' for $500. (Memberships at the door were $145).
