RECIPE: One Bowl Brownies (McBridge) (Baked from scratch by Maria Elizabeth Rodriguez, 9) 1 cup oil 6 tablespoons cocoa 4 eggs 2 cups sugar 2 tablespoons Karo syrup 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 1/2 cups flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon salt 1 cup chopped nuts, optional Put oil in a bowl. Stir in cocoa, eggs, sugar, Karo and vanilla. Mix flour, baking powder and salt together; add to cocoa mixture. Stir in nuts. Pour into greased 8x12 pan and bake at 350 F for 30 minutes. If a glass pan is used, bake at 325 F. They are chewier if not overbeaten or overbaked. These brownies have been the primary dessert addition to "cowboy" lunch boxes on the McBride ranch in Llano for some 30 years.
