A cattle-grid. It only looks like it's supposed to have very skinny missiles shoot out of it. It's supposed to stop farm animals (cattle, sheep etc.) from getting to the other side of it. Used, instead of a gate, on roads which pass through a fenced area. The only trouble is, you're likely to find animals on both sides! This cattle-grid was at the entrance to the Plockton High School.
