(These pictures illustrate out two or three photography pitfalls. The first one is all that backlight coming in through the windows. To partially compensate for that, I used the flash, but the chairs in front of me "caught" the brunt of the flash. And I didn't realize it when I was taking the picture because of the up-down parallax effect; that is, what I see through the viewfinder isn't exactly where the lens is pointing.)
