Kyle Hofmann (who had to put on his shoes before going upstairs), Rebecca Barber, Michael Molisani. Apparently the hotel asked the Con Suite to close early on Friday on Friday night. The only ranking concom member to be found was the lady in the Con Suite, who capitulated. However, Blars offered to open his room up and start his "I-5 in '05" party a night early, so everyone who was hanging out in the lobby trooped upstairs.

Jim Briggs, Sandra Childress arrive. (Blars and Adam Tilghman on the floor, Kris Bauer, Cathy Mullican, Kyle Hofmann on the bed.) This was Jim's first convention with Sandra since they were married in March. I imagine he was introducing her around to all his friends who didn't make it up north for the wedding.

It's difficult to convey in a few snapshots just how crowded Blars's room was at 1:00 am with 17 fans in it. Maybe there wasn't much going on at the convention on Friday night, but there was at least this much nightlife. (The downstairs bar closed at 10 pm.)

The thing that I find unfathomable is how few concom members stay on-site. I'm used to conventions where the hotel is full of the committee -- you probably won't need to wake up the Programming head in the middle of the night, but if you do, you know he or she is upstairs somewhere. It gives me kind of an odd feeling, to know that the people running the convention don't have as large a stake invested in it as the people attending it.
