Portuguese Sweet Bread

"Maria and Manuel, from Portugal, are living here while Manuel completes his doctoral degree. She has experimented with recipes to closely resemble those of her country. This is one of my favorites."

yeast               1 tsp             1 1/2 tsp        2 1/2 tsp
Variation: Should you prefer this even sweeter, increase sugar to:
sugar               3 TB              1/3 cup          1/2 cup
